Swiss student at the World Robot Olympiad in Thailand

03.12.2018

This year's international robotics competition took place from 16-18 November in Chiang Mai, Thailand under the motto Foode Matters. Six Swiss students competed against teams from around 60 countries and proved their skills:

  • Category Elementary (8-12 years): Janis Looser (primary school Russikon ZH) and Erik Schnell (primary school Untermoos ZH), Team Uni-Robo.
  • Category Junior (13-15 years): Nicola Alessandrelli and Jakob Hechler, Bläuen School (SO), Team League of Robots.
  • Category Senior (16-19 years): Aaron Griesser (Kantonsschule Zürcher Oberland), and Joas Griesser (apprenticeship), Team TechNoLogic.

The youngest Lego robots came up with the idea of reducing food waste. The robot in the "Juniors" category uses soil quality data from fields to plant the right seedlings. The oldest participants tinkered with robots that make food transport more precise.

All teams achieved very good placings: Team Uni-Robo made it to place 22 of 104, Team League of Robots to place 30 of 106 and Team TechNoLogic to place 19 of 90.

Ergon again supported the senior team as sponsor. We congratulate all participants on the great results!
