The greater the project's complexity, the more suitable is the development of new software based on custom components. This approach is also more cost-effective than customizing a standard software. An application built specifically for a customer enables a direct modelling of the customer's workflow; no moulding or adjusting of standard software is necessary. An individualized solution aids the customer to distinguish himself from competitors and thereby gaining a substantial advantage.

Ergon teams are small, homogeneous, and highly skilled. They bear responsibility for the project development. This results in straightforward, iterative development steps and in a tight cooperation with the customer.

People Before Methods

Good software developers are 10 to 30 times more productive than average developers (IEEE Software May/June 2001, Tom DeMarco in "Peopleware"). Good methods and tools can improve results, but they alone are rarely reason for success.

That's why Ergon insists on employing only the most highly qualified engineers. Using sophisticated technology and a decent methodology Ergon is able to construct high quality, cost-effective applications very quickly - as one expects from a general contractor. Our driving principle is: the simplest solution is ultimately the best. If customers don't prefer a certain methodology we follow the ideas of Extreme Programming and the Manifesto for Agile Software Development. Otherwise we stick with the customer's guidelines.
